We create t-shirts each year to show that we are a team. The teams will have STAFF on ours whereas others that buy one will not that are interesting in supporting us.
A normal team consists of 3-5 students and students and their parents will interviewed to make sure this is a team they can be committed to. We limit the amount of teams that may be formed and supported by SJMS and MNHS and thus there are applications required to be a part of any team. Interest shown and commitment demonstrated since this is an intense competition with tough learning curves is what determines acceptance.
This year the cost is $50.00 per student that is interested in seeking this national and international competition. Students need the intention and support of their parents/guardians who are willing to invest their time in any given year, we will not be participating as we are student driven teams.
You will be working with Engineers and Technicians who are experts and can help our teams seek and find answers to the questions presented by our team members.
It is fun, intense and a real rush with the "smoke and fire." Possible scholarships and recognition can happen if well done. We all will work and volunteer throughout our community and mentored by Jack & Suzy Sprague , President & Secretary of the Dallas Area Rocket Society better described at dars.org. They mentored several schools that qualified as well as others such as of who did not.

This is a team of dedicated 6th-8th grade students who are inventors and innovators as they create engineered games using Minecraft to activate and facilitate learning by timid learners.
There is a small cost of joining this team to help as a student designer. This small fee allows invited non-team students who have been recommended by their teachers for our help. Often these students are not doing as well as they could in core type classes or are exceeding and need enrichment and possibly either end of the spectrums could benefit playing games designed for their needs. Access to our server is provided by a secured "list" due to cybersecurity concerns and protecting my student engineers as they design these games and the other students who play to learn.
It is incredible fun and we have been in the middle of redesigning and working with national and international mindsets of how important what this team that utilizes a "engineering process" in everything they do. As with all our teams that are student driven each year for those that have the commitment to help others as well as themselves along the way.
